RESURRECTION and JUDGEMENT

Opening Scripture:

Psalm 9:7-8
7 But the Lord shall endure forever; He has prepared His throne for judgment.
8 He shall judge the world in righteousness; And He shall administer judgment for the peoples
in uprightness.

Ecclesiastes 3:17
I said in my heart, “God shall judge the righteous and the wicked, for there is a time there for
every purpose and for every work.”

Hebrews 9:27-28
27 And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,
28 so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He
will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.

Death and Resurrection

According to the Bible, all of us have three inescapable appointments: death, resurrection, and judgment. We all will die one day, we all will be raised again and we all will be judged at the throne of God and be given either eternal punishment or eternal rewards.

1) Appointed time
Hebrews 9:27 and Philippians 1:21

2) Judgment seat
Romans 14:10

3) The resurrection
1 Corinthians 15:13-26 and 42-44, Philippians 3:10-11 and Acts 24:15

4) Heavenly citizenship
Philippians 3:20-21 and 2 Corinthians 5:6-10

5) Jesus conquers death
Hebrews 2:14-15

God is Holy

The question is often asked, how can a loving God send people to hell? God has never sent anyone to hell. Our sin and rejection of Him will send us there. Once we as humanity see how sinful we really are and how Holy God is, we will wonder, how can a Holy God allow sinful people into heaven?

1) God’s justice
Psalm 89:14

2) Man’s sin
1 John 1:6-8, Hebrews 10:26-31 and Romans 3:23-26

3) Man’s heart
Romans 2:5

4) Man’s rejection
Romans 2:8 and John 3:36

5) Man’s response
James 2:12

Judgment

On judgment day, Jesus will separate the sheep from the goats. All who repent of their sins and have faith in Christ will be with Him forever. Believers and unbelievers will be judged.

1) Judgment day
Hebrews 9:27, Romans 14:10-12, 2 Corinthians 5:10 and James 3:1

2) Who will make it?
Matthew 7:21

3) Who will miss out?
Matthew 7:22-23

5) Separation time
Matthew 25:31-46

6) Hell is real
Matthew 13:41-42, Matthew 25:41, Mark 9:43, Luke 16:23-24 and 2 Thessalonians 1:9

7) Wicked and unrighteous judged in hell
Matthew 23:29-33, Matthew 24:48-51, John 3:36, Romans 2:8, Revelation 20:15 and
Revelation 21:8
